2013 - A year in review.

2013 was our second year in business, and as those of you who were with us in 2012 may remember, we like to send out an open post Christmas message to all of our customers.

2013 was a year for improvement after a testing first year in the Christmas tree business. Our primary aim was to ensure that each of our customers were given a personal and efficient service with no delivery issues and to the best of our knowledge this was a great success! We have had some conflicting feedback from customers about where we might improve and we'd like to get your opinions on it. Next year we will either

Stick with our courier partner. The benefits of this are supporting local business, and keeping the service more "personal". The downside is price - last year it cost approximately £18 per delivery, which was subsidised by us, something we couldn't afford to do again so delivery prices would unfortuntely increase.

Work with a larger national courier such as City Link. If an agreement can be made, this will make deliveries viable for the around £10 each and wouldn't be limited to certain postocdes. You would be able to track the order and have a more accurate timeslot. Of course this is less personal and if you miss the delivery you will need to liaise with the courier rather than us. If this was to be the case, all deliveries would most likely be on Saturdays.

We are also in talks with Greenwich Council about setting up in a few prominent locations so people can choose their trees. There were some reservations about this as we want to build up a brand based upon delivery however we understand that a Christmas tree is very personal and each customer wants to be sure that our trees are of the highest quality. This will also allow customers to avoid paying a delivery charge if you live nearby!

All in all it was a good year for progress, we've had great endorsements from bloggers, including the Londonist, and even celebrity tweets from the likes of supermodel Caprice. Our main goal for next year is to really boost the number of customers. We invested a lot into marketing this year, gaining over 1500 Facebook followers.
